Tom Co-Teaching UMSL Graduate Seminar

May 29, 2019

Tom and Dr. Mindy Bier, Associate Director for the UMSL Center for Character and Citizenship, are creating and co-teaching a course this summer, EDUC 6408 Graduate Seminar: Cultivating Virtue in Leaders. It is designed to give K-12 administrators the knowledge and tools to implement character education and SEL in their schools. The classes will be interactive, drawing from students’ experiences and perceptions, and supporting collegial growth. Students will respond to articles, review three books, interview leaders, and create a culminating project that can be used in their schools. School leaders who are already framing their school’s cultures around SECE (Social-emotional learning and Character Development) will visit the class, either in-person or virtually via Skype.
